Eurosport expands coverage

INDIANAPOLIS (March 7, 2001) -- Eurosport, which brings American Le Mans Series race coverage to 54 countries, has expanded its motorsports schedule for 2001 to include the five races of the new European Le Mans Series. Eurosport has added coverage of ELMS events in Austria, Portugal and Italy to its lineup that already included events from England and Spain. The network is televising all nine North American rounds of the ALMS, as well as Asia-Pacific Le Mans Series races from Malaysia and Australia. Eurosport will telecast the races on Sunday evenings in most cases, with the programs consisting of a one-hour highlights package. The telecasts will usually air approximately one week following the actual event. In addition, Eurosport has adjusted its broadcast schedule and has named new air dates for its coverage of American Le Mans Series races in March from Texas Motor Speedway and Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway. Highlights of the Texas race will be shown on Saturday, March 10, at 20:00 Central European Time. The Sebring coverage will be shown on Sunday, March 25, at 17:45. Both will be one-hour programs. The most distributed television channel in Europe, Eurosport has some 230 million viewers and reaches 92 million homes. Programming is seen in 54 languages.
