Sears Point: BAM! race report

An electrical problem zapped BAM! (British American Motorsport) out of the American Le Mans Series race at Infineon (Sears Point) Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.

Leo Hindery, Jr. started the No. 43 YES Network Porsche 911 GT3 RSR sixth on the GT grid, but the car stopped on track after just 30 minutes of the two-hour 45-minute race. Hindery was able to restart it by switching to the reserve fuel tank, but it stopped again moments later and the team retired from the race. Hindery's co-driver, Porsche factory driver Lucas Luhr, did not drive.

"I'm extremely disappointed for Lucas and for the team," Hindery said. "This is the second race in a row that Lucas didn't get a single race lap. The car was great and everything was going well, but the fuel pump let us down. It's easy to say on to Portland, but this one hurts."

The next American Le Mans Series is scheduled for July 25 at Portland (Ore.) International Raceway.
