Atomic Speedway AMA Grand National part of 11th annual Honda Hoot
Honda Increases Racing Contingency for Special Event

PICKERINGTON, Ohio (June 2, 2004) -- The AMA Progressive Insurance Flat Track Championship race on June 25, at Atomic Speedway in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, will be a part of the 11th annual Honda Hoot celebration, taking place June 23-26, in Knoxville, Tenn. In honor of this annual motorcycle rally Honda is raising its posted contingency awards for the Atomic Speedway race.

Honda will triple the posted contingency for the winner of the event to $6,000 and double the amount for places second through fifth to $2,000 (2nd), $1,500 (3rd), $1,000 (4th), and $500 (5th).

"We're excited about the addition of an AMA Grand National to this year's Honda Hoot," said American Honda's Bill Savino. "Flat track racing has such a rich history in the United States and it's gratifying to see riders competing on Hondas again in the Grand Nationals. We're happy to be able to reward the competitors who put on such thrilling races week in and week out."

This is the first AMA Grand National event to be held at the Atomic Speedway short track. Additionally, it's the first time the Knoxville area has hosted the premier motorcycle dirt track racing series in over 20 years. The nation's top riders, including four-time AMA Grand National Champion and AMA Speed Channel Athlete of the Year Chris Carr, are slated to compete in the event.

The Honda Hoot is an all brand, four-day motorcycle rally. Participants can enjoy great rides on twisty roads through lush, green forests and rolling hills, while discovering new destinations along the way. Additionally, several key motorcycle manufacturers participate by offering demo rides on their most popular models.
