A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR LUSK
MOORESVILLE, NC (6-11-06) - Damon Lusk, driver of the #65 Construct Corps Dodge, took home his fourth top ten of the season with a seventh place finish at Pocono Raceway's Pocono 200 Saturday, June 10th.
Despite a brake issue, transmission problems, and even running out of gas on the last lap, the Brack Maggard Racing (BMR) team overcame the setbacks, and Lusk kept the car upfront, running in the top five for most of the day.
"This was a good finish for us," Lusk said. "This car had awesome straightway speed. Even though we knew we had a top five car, to be able to fight through the issues and end up seventh, there is something to be said about this team."
This seventh place finish moves Lusk up to third in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship points standings, surpassing both T.J. Bell and Billy Venturini.
"It was a great points day. I wish we could have stayed up there in third or fourth and gained more on Gerhart; but, I am excited because we are all learning and really starting to gain on the competition."
"Our focus now is to take back what we learned from this race and make the adjustments needed to improve for Michigan. We tested third fastest at Michigan, and I love that track, so I have high hopes for us."
After finishing outside the top 15 in the last three races, Crew Chief Robby Benton is proud of this team for showing they can work together to overcome the adversity they have faced.
"This team is constantly improving," Benton said. "Everyone worked together and exemplified that even though you may be down, you are certainly not out. So we will take this, go home, and work on the car to make it even better for Michigan. I am confident in this team and that we are taking the right steps in continuing to be a threat for this ARCA RE/MAX Series championship."
