The unusually hot weather at this time of the year might have contributed to the large amount of crashes, blown engines and radiators tonight. The oil dry flowed freely all night long. A total of 96 cars competed in tonight's program.
Polesitter, Joe Hawes took the initial lead of the 35-lap Late Model feature at Flat Rock Speedway, Saturday night. Rick Knowles battled side-by-side with Hawes for seven laps before nosing ahead. Once in the lead, Knowles built up a large lead and won his second feature in a row at the high banked 1/4 mile track. Twenty-five cars started the feature which saw four caution periods.
The 20-lap street stock A-main feature saw four cautions with two red flags thrown. Randy DeMaggio led the first 10 laps until he spun in turn two. Tom Selmi took over the lead and the victory after fighting off a hard charging Ron Allen. It was a strange race with cars who had dropped out of the race, went to the pits and returned during the red flag periods. The driver who finished tenth, Ken Kraatz, wasn't even running at the end of the race, even though 12 cars took the checkered flag, some many laps down.
The first lap of the 15-lap B-main was red flagged after only one lap when a gaggle of cars crashed in turn four. The race was restarted after much oil dry was used and finished without any other incidents. Rich Able won his first career street stock feature event.
Dave DeBash won the caution free 10-lap C-main over Chris Fitzpatrick.
The 20-lap Figure 8 feature also went caution free with Ken Ahlgren coming home the winner after a near miss at the X on lap 18.
