Homestead Qualifying brief & grid

MIAMI - - Chuck West, of Sonoma, Calif., will start on the pole for Saturday's season-opener of the KOOL/TOYOTA Atlantic Championship at the Homestead Motorsports Complex.

West, in a Ralt RT-41, covered the unique 1.4-mile road six-turn course-oval combination circuit with a qualifying average of 121.25 miles-per-hour. Memo Gidley of San Rafael, Calif., will start alongside West after posting a speed of 121.09. Anthony Lazzaro of Acworth, Ga., will start third at 121.54 miles-per-hour. The series will begin its 24th year with 50-lap race at 4:15 p.m. EST.
