TIM MACROW JENSEN'S QUICKEST IN SEBRING ATLANTIC TEST SESSION
Tim Macrow has completed his second test in the Cooper Tyres presents the Champ Car Atlantic Championship powered by Mazda as the quickest of three drivers testing for Jensen Motorsport.
The 23-year-old 2007 Australian Formula 3 Champion completed 102 laps of the high speed Sebring circuit and logged a best time of 59.924 seconds. In the competitive field, his time left him less than eight-tenths outside the top ten on the timesheet released by series officials following the test.
Canada's James Hinchcliffe was fastest on both days, driving for Forsythe Championship Racing, Tim only driving the second of the two-day test.
The Victorian driver was, however, unable to improve his best time on a new tyre run thanks to dirt on the circuit after one day of Atlantic - and three of Champ Car - testing prior to his run.
As a result his best lap came on old tyres and left him wanting more time in the car to further improve times.
"The test went OK -- I was quickest of the drivers testing for Jensen and I did my time on old tyres so on that respect I'm reasonably happy," Macrow said.
"My new tyre run got stuffed up by dirt on the circuit which was frustrating. I'm still looking for budget to enable me to run the season so I'm planning to hang around here for a while to see what I can drum up.
"Hopefully we can work something out and I can stay for the test at Laguna Seca next month. I know that I can be competitive -- I just need more seat time and more miles in the car." He said.
