Ricci wins after a thrilling start
After a brilliant race, the Fisichella Motor Sport driver, Giacomo Ricci, has won the Saturday race of the Euroseries 3000 / F.3000 Italian Championship leading from the first lap till the chequered flag. After a perfect start, Ricci was able to overtake the teammate and poleman Marco Bonanomi and started recording excellent times, obtaining also the point for the best lap.
From the tenth lap, Ricci just controlled his leadership, without taking any risk. The second spot is good for Bonanomi to maintain the first place in the Championship standings while the podium was completed by the Astromega of an outstanding Oliver Martini, also thanks to the valid support given to him for this race by RC Motorsport. Fourth place for the Spanish driver of the Minardi Team, Rodriguez who finished ahead of Cronje (Autosport) and Cressoni (Vanni-Traini).
A spectacular accident took place at the first corner with Petrov literally taking off: his race was therefore finished as per Gattuso and Caceres, also involved while another contact at the first lap forced Nocera and Bellarosa to retire. The starting grid of Race 2 will be based on today results, with the first 8 drivers inverted, which means Glauco Solieri and Tuka Rocha will start from the first line.
