Awesome win at the last lap for Ricci in front of Caceres and Gattuso
Fourth win out of six races for Giacomo Ricci in the third round of the Euroseries 3000. The driver from Milan led for Fisichella Motorsport only the last of the 17 scheduled laps. He took the position from Caceres after a spectacular but fair duel. The Spanish driver, who led almost all race, strongly defended himself from Bonanomi, Gattuso and Petrov, alternatively on second place. Ricci, whose car stalled at the start, gave way to a great comeback, passing all his rivals and challenging the victory in the closing stages.
Caceres was followed on lap 1 by Cressoni, Gattuso, Bonanomi, Petrov, Bellarosa, Rocha, Nocera and Cronje. Oliver Martini said goodbye to race 2 in the beginning, after a collision. Cressoni had a problem too, making a mistake at the bus stop during lap 2 and loosing two places. Bonanomi, who started in 8th due to his victory in race 1, tried to press Gattuso, but went offtrack, damaging his car and being forced to retire. On lap 6 Petrov overtook the AutoSport driver, while Nocera and Rocha made contact at the Souce forcing the Safety Car to come out.
At re-start, Caceres gained ground on the group, until the arrival of Ricci, who easily passed both Petrov and Gattuso. On the last lap Ricci forced Caceres to make a little mistake and profited from it to bring FMS another win. Gattuso closed in third place, in front of Petrov, Cressoni, Rodriguez, Nocera and Cronje. <pre> RACE 2 ROUND 3 Spa Francorchamps
