HITECH LOOKING FOR MONZA VICTORY
Hitech Racing heads out to the fifth round of the Lloyds TSB Insurance British Formula 3 International Series at Monza this weekend, looking for a double win to extend its lead in the title chase. Estonian Marko Asmer has won five of the eight rounds so far and holds a commanding 48-point lead in the points standings.
Twenty-two year-old Asmer has won at every round so far this season, including a double victory at Donington, and will be hoping circuit knowledge will stand him in good stead when he returns to the home of the Italian Grand Prix.
His young team-mate Walter Grubmuller has recovered from his crash at Bucharest in May and hopes to put the disappointment of Donington behind him, as he bids for his first podium.
The 18 year-old F3 newcomer had looked good for a strong points-scoring finish in the last round despite stalling on the grid. He recovered in race two and made up good ground so heads to Monza looking for two top-ten finishes to move him up the order.
The fifth round of the British F3 series once again supports the prestigious FIA GT and GT3 Championships and will kick off with free practice around the 5.7km mile track at 10.15 on Saturday prior to the first of two 30 minute qualifying sessions, which take place at 15.15 and 17.30 that afternoon. The two races will take place on Sunday at 10.00 and 18.00.
