WALKER TARGETS MORE PODIUMS AT SPA
James Walker heads for the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium this weekend for the 11th and 12th rounds of the British International Formula 3 Championship aiming for two good finishes after taking the chequered flag in only half the races so far this season.
However, with three of those finishes being podium places, including one at Snetterton last time out, he clearly has the pace and is expecting to start adding to his tally of one Formula 3 win before long.
"To do it at Spa would be special," he says. "I love this circuit. It's great to compete at the Grand Prix tracks and this has the best corner in the world, Eau Rouge. The atmosphere there is brilliant and it's a real driver's circuit.
"It's a long lap in an F3 car -- you're looking at 2min 15secs -- and it's incredibly challenging. Spa rewards bravery but you need to be very smooth to be quick as it only has two slow corners. I'm really looking forward to it and think it will give me a good chance to climb the points table."
This weekend's two races are on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning ahead of the Spa 24 Hours sportscar classic which starts on Saturday afternoon.
