Better Homes Racing Fails To Make Cut At Rain Hampered Southern Nationals

DARLINGTON, SC --- Sometimes the home advantage can hold a huge advantage for a team in athletic competition. The downside to that statement is that it does not always hold true. Darlington, South Carolina’s Roy Singleton found out that painful fact as his award winning, Better Homes sponsored 1941 Willys failed to make the Pro Modified cut at the IHRA Southern Nationals. Team driver Barney Squires could only coax a best 6.983/194.32 that delegated him to DNQ status. To say Singleton is disappointed with this performance before his Darlington, South Carolina home crowd would be an understatement.

“When you’re in front of your home crowd, you always want to put your best foot forward,” explained Singleton. “Unfortunately, it didn’t happen here. I will not take anything away from my driver Barney Squires, nor my crew. They all work hard and never quit. Things will come around for us and when they do, people had better watch out.”

Singleton’s classic Pro Modified features two drivers. Squires pilots the entry at national events while veteran hired gun Ronnie Hood handles the chores on the outlaw, Southeastern Quick Eight events.
