Herbert Wins in First Visit to Japan
Tokyo, Japan - Overcoming very difficult track conditions, Doug Herbert and the Snap-on Top Fuel Drag Racing team beat Takahiro Toshiro in the final round to win the USA Drag Racing Festival at Fuji International Speedway near Gotenba, Japan. This was the Herbert team's first race outside North America and Herbert said everything went very well.
"Our team adjusted to the conditions and put together some safe and smooth runs," said the 28-year-old from Cherryville, NC. "We didn't hurt any parts and the fans really enjoyed the show."
"It was difficult to assemble a top-notch effort for an event so soon after the end of our season in the States," said Herbert. But, our team was prepared for anything and I think we proved our ability to run well anywhere in the world. I cannot say enough about the hospitality of the promoters (OX International Ltd.), NHRA, and Snap-on Japan. The event went great and it was an experience that none of us will ever forget."
Herbert presented his winner's trophy to the president of Snap-on Tools Japan, Mr. C.J. Creech. "Everyone associated with Snap-on Japan made us feel very welcome and provided the support necessary to take our first overseas victory," said Herbert.
Snap-on Incorporated, based in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is the world's premier developer, manufacturer, and distributor of hand and air-powered tools, automotive diagnostic equipment, and tool storage units for professional tool users in automotive, industrial, aerospace, medical and other markets.
