Texas Quick 8 Pro Mod results

SEGUIN, Tex - Pro Modified driver Gaylen Smith came out of his early season slump to regain his record setting form with a win during the second stop on the Texas Quick 8 Outlaw Pro Mod Championship Series at River City Raceway in Seguin, Texas. Smith came out of the No. 2 qualifying spot and used a string of 4.30's (1/8 mile) on his way to the final, where he defeated Houston runner-up Chuck Nuytten in his '63 split window Corvette. The DeSoto, Texas driver took a huge .490 to .697 starting line advantage and looked to be on another 4.30 run when his "Texas Bounty Hunter" blown '94 Camaro exploded a burst panel and slowed to a 4.573/128.34 that was still good enough to defeat Nuytten's distant 4.705/155.74.

Points leader Bobby Booth took the No. 1 qualifying spot, but at the expense of a torched block. Booth still holds a slim lead in championship points over second place Scott Herzog, 91 points to 87, with Smith in third with 68. <pre> Qualifying Order:
