Michelin aiming for a third Le Mans Series title
The third Le Mans Series season kicks off this weekend at exactly the same venue where last year's championship concluded-- on the shores of the Bosporus, and in pouring rain! Following its titles in the 2004 series with Audi and in 2005 with Pescarolo, Michelin will equip 11 of the 43 cars entered for the inaugural round of 2006.
Immediately after the recent pre-season dress rehearsals at Paul Ricard (March 26-27), the Le Mans Series caravan moved on to Trieste en route for the first encounter of the 2006 championship in Istanbul.
Launched in 2004 and inspired by the Le Mans 24 Hours on which its technical and sporting regulations are based, the Le Mans Series concept is currently undergoing a period of rapid expansion. "The Le Mans Series is contributing to the internationalisation of endurance racing and Michelin is proud to be a part of that process," affirms the Michelin Group's Competition Director Frederic Henry-Biabaud.
