Wall Battles on International Stage
Australian GT Championship leader David Wall is competing on the international stage this weekend in Malaysia, at the 12-hour Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race.
This weekend David will will not be in his Porsche he will, for the first time, David be racing a Mosler and he has spent this week in Kuala Lumpur acclimatising and getting his first laps around the track that is used for the Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix in March.
David will be joining Andrew MacPherson, who has campaigned the Mosler in a couple of this year's Australian GT series races and Mike Reedy.
This weekend's 12 hour race will be different to previous races as it starts at midnight and will finish at midday on Sunday to avoid the regular afternoon thunderstorms Malaysia experiences.
The team have spent the practice sessions this week testing the car and setting it up for qualifying later today, as well as allowing the drivers much needed time in the car before qualifying and the race.
Unlike other endurance races David has competed in this year, each of the three drivers will compete in separate hour-long qualifying sessions with the team's qualifying position based on an aggregate time.
David, a previous podium finisher, knows that this weekend is going to be even more difficult with new competitors who have raised the bar.
This year among the highly competitive field is an Audi works team whose driver line up has eight Le Mans 24 hour titles with Frank Biela and Marco Werner meaning the standard of competition is even higher.
David Wall is racing this year thanks to the continued support of Wilson Security, Payce, Shannons and Mount Aqua.
