The inaugural Friday morning test session produced good results for Jordan Ford with the team running all three cars and making good headway in terms of overall set up and balance work in readiness for first practice. Ralph Firman's track debut saw him switching between the race and spare car after suffering water and hydraulic leaks, but the spare was already prepared for him and he did not lose a significant amount of track time.

Giancarlo Fisichella
"The grip overall was not so good to begin with. We were working to find the right set-up for the weekend and towards the end it was getting better and better as the circuit improved. It was very dusty earlier on. It was a very useful session from the point of view of preparing for the race weekend so I think we'll make good use of this information the rest of today and tomorrow."

Ralph Firman
"I am very happy after that session because although it would have been nice to have a few more laps I was able to learn the circuit and I am looking forward to the next session. The corners here are a lot slower than I originally thought they would be it's a great setting but it's quite a slow track. For myself this test session is of great benefit and with a view to the whole weekend it's a valuable time in the car. It's great to have it for the whole year."

Gary Anderson Director Of Race And Test Engineering
"We had a couple of little problems with a water and then a hydraulic leak on Ralph's car so we lost a bit of time but we still managed to get quite a lot of work done. We found out what tyres we are going to really focus on for the rest of this weekend and we got a reasonable balance. It's put us two hours ahead of the other guys who haven't run in that session, so it's been worthwhile for sure."
