For the final time this season, Lucky Strike B.A.R Honda are back in Mugello for a 3-day test programme at the Italian circuit.

Test Drivers Darren Manning and Anthony Davidson are running on all three days, and the emphasis is split between preparation for the Japanese Grand Prix and development work for next year's car.

Wednesday saw Darren Manning post a fastest time of 01.26.639, with Anthony Davidson not far behind with a 01.26.718. The fastest time of the day was set by Massa, for Sauber, with a 01.25.677.

Today's fastest lap time was again set by Massa -- this time with a 01.25.231. Darren was third fastest with a 01.26.103, while Anthony's best time was a 01.26.429.

Summing up the test so far, Chief Engineer, Steve Farrell said:

"This test has two functions. Firstly we are using the good general characteristics of this track in order to complete some set up work for Japan. In addition, we're also giving Anthony his first full test. Although he has had a day's testing with us here on a prior occasion, this is his first real introduction to the mainstream test programme."

"Obviously, we already know Darren well. He's been part of our test programme for a couple of years now and he's doing a good job at this test, as usual. This is the first serious run that Anthony has had in the car and he's also doing an outstanding job. Understandably he's noticing the physical demands of driving a Formula One car though, so we're restricting him to short runs to allow him to get accustomed to the physical strain."

"We've got a very comprehensive schedule of tests to complete here. So far we're pleased with our progress and are achieving some good results. Some of the parts we are testing here will be taken to Suzuka, where we hope to end the season on a positive note."

The testing programme continues for a third and final day tomorrow.
