Jean Alesi: I continued to struggle to balance the car today, and was still hampered by too much understeer in the middle of fast corners. Right at the end I stopped with an electrical problem.
Pedro Diniz:
My car was still understeering to begin, but towards the end of free practice this morning we began to move in the right direction and the balance was definitely better for qualifying, though still not perfect. On my last run my first two sector times were okay, but I lost time with understeer in the final part of the lap. I was also unlucky to be out on the track starting quick laps each time a BAR crashed. That lost me two runs, but I'm glad Jacques and Ricardo are okay.
Peter Sauber:
For qualifying at Spa we expected more, for sure. Both interruptions due to the shunts of Villeneuve and Zonta affected us, certainly, but they are not an excuse. The reasons for this unexpected poor result lie in the aerodynamic performance of our car.
