A busy day for Irvine Maranello, 22nd August Circuit: Fiorano, 2.976 km Driver: Eddie Irvine, F 300 chassis 183, 186 and 188 (long wheelbase) Weather: air temperature 29-33 C, track temperature 43-54 C, sunny Fiorano, 22nd August, 1998 - It was a busy day for Eddie Irvine and Scuderia Ferrari- Marlboro today. The Irish driver began work at 09h30 completing 11 laps. He was shaking down two cars for the Belgian GP, scheduled to take place at Spa-Francorchamps on 30th August. He used both the long wheelbase car 188 and also chassis number 186. His best time was 1m 04.692s. At 11h00 he turned to the test car to try various types of dry weather tyre. He did 73 laps, the quickest being a 1m 02.820. From 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the Fiorano track was artificially soaked in water in order to test rain tyres. In the "wet" Eddie did 34 laps with a best time of 1m 14.752s. This brought his total number of laps for the day to 128. Testing ended at 17h00.

On Monday, 24th August, Luca Badoer will shake down the third car to be used at the Belgian GP.
