Herbert's future uncertain

MF1 sporting relations manager Johnny Herbert has reportedly departed his position now that the team has been taken over by Dutch sports car company Spyker. Former racer Herbert was appointed by MF1 earlier this season after sporting director Adrian Burgess stepped down.

Apparently Herbert's employment deal was with parent company Midland rather with the team itself and the takeover has made him redundant. "Of course, he (Herbert) was part of the team but it was a different arrangement," said managing director Colin Kolles, according to Reuters.

Michel Mol, director of F1 Spyker Cars, is due to discuss whether Herbert can continue with the team. "I have spoken with Johnny and somewhere in the next week or two we'll sit down and have a chat to see if there is a future or not," Mol said. "At the moment I don't know yet."

Meanwhile, Christijan Albers has revealed today, September 29th, that he has signed a deal to race for Spyker next year. It comes as no surprise that the Dutchman will stay on but who will be his teammate is currently unknown. Tiago Monteiro has a good chance and ex-Red Bull pilot Christian Klien is also thought to be in the running.
