Irvine angry about misfire

Anybody who saw Eddie Irvine banging his steering wheel in frustration after retiring from the Hungarian Grand Prix will know that the Ulsterman is giving it one hundred and ten per cent for the Jaguar Racing cause. Irvine has always been a fierce competitor and, despite being the oldest driver on the grid, he has lost none of his passion and fire for racing.

"I was banging the steering wheel when the car packed up and started to misfire. I was really disappointed and angry, because it was finally coming good," explained Irvine. "We still have four races to go in what has been a long hard year, so I just hope we can find some improvements before the season ends."

Meanwhile, Eddie will be recharging his batteries for the next race on his favourite mobile home -- The Annaconda. "I'm heading back to the boat in Croatia again for a couple of days, then I'll be jetting back to Silverstone where we've got an important test on Wednesday, trying out a revised rear suspension set-up. After that, it's back to the boat for a few more days before heading off to Spa for the Belgian Grand Prix. The Belgian race always feels like the end of the summer as it usually rains and I have to dig out my jacket for the first time."

Eddie made a charge through the field at the Hungaroring and was lapping faster than the cars directly ahead of him before his retirement. With greater overtaking opportunities available at the fabulous Spa Francorchamps circuit, expect sparks to fly.

"Spa is a great track, where the driver can make a difference and, what a relief after Budapest, you can actually overtake there!"
