Jaguar's Eddie Irvine is pleased to have won sixth place on the grid - his equal best of the season thus far - but admits he could have done better had the car not have suffered from understeer on his final run. "If we could have solved that (the understeer), then I reckon we could have been right on Rubens' heels. It was the car that cost me because it just under-steered too much. I'm not frustrated with this result at all. The team's worked better than any other weekend by a long way."

He added that the top six is the goal the team aims to achieve when they have the right downforce on the car. "I've said that the top six is where we can be when we have the downforce on the car," said Irvine

The Ulsterman received much criticism from Jackie Stewart on Thursday, with the Scot stating he was lazy and had made too many mistakes during the season thus far. However, Irvine responded in the finest way possible, by once again out-pacing his more experienced team mate, Johnny Herbert, who ended the day in eleventh.

Irvine scored the team's first - and only - points at the Monaco Grand Prix and is confident to add more to their piggy bank during tomorrow's race.
