"I'm really looking forward to it," said Wirdheim. "Everybody I've spoken to has told me that it's one of the nicest grands prix on the calendar because the atmosphere in Montreal is apparently pretty amazing, so I'm looking forward to it."

As the reigning F3000 champion, there aren't too many circuits on the Formula One calendar that present the Swede with a new challenge. The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is one such circuit but Wirdheim is typically unfazed.

"I've never been to Canada before and it will be my first time on this circuit. I've been through some data with my engineers over the last couple of days and, to be honest I don't think it's that difficult."

"It's very hard on brakes -- the hardest circuit on brakes because there are long straights and most corners are very slow so you have to do a lot of heavy braking and brake wear is something we need to keep an eye on."
