McLaren Media Release Monday 21st August

Marlboro McLaren Mercedes are pleased to announce that four times Formula One World Driver's Champion Alain Prost will be participating in some of the team's remaining 1995 development and testing programme.

The first stage of this took place today when Alain came to the factory for a seat-fitting. This will be followed by a test programme.

"Ron Dennis and I have had a series of talks," said Alain. "We have agreed that it would be mutually beneficial if I took an active interest in the race and test programme for a period of time. As yet we have no plans to commit to anything more than that."

"Alain and I have been friends and colleagues for a long time and have much respect for each other," added Ron Dennis. "This seat-fitting and the subsequent testing Alain will carry out are part of an ongoing exploratory process we are going through. People should not read too much into this, as these are early days."

"There are a few people with so much experience both of racing and testing at such a high level," commented Norbert Haug, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motor Sport. "Alain's involvement can only be of benefit to the team and we are looking forwared to enjoying the results of his contribution."

Marlboro McLaren Mercedes will be announcing their driver line-up for the 1996 Formula One season on October 1st at the European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring.
