Qualifying postponement was “only decision” – Rosberg

Mercedes star Rosberg has more to lose than most if qualifying is cancelled tomorrow, as race stewards will likely refer to the FP3 times – in which he was only ninth fastest after going off early in the session and then not running when the track was at its best.

When asked if postponing qualifying on Saturday was the right decision, Rosberg said: “Yeah for sure. It is the only decision that could be taken because it was not possible to drive out there.

“Let's hope we can drive tomorrow morning, that will be important. Other than that – this morning it was still raining a lot and it was sort of driveable. So it doesn't take much.

“It just needs to calm down a little bit and we should be able to get out there no problem."

Massa: FP3 was already “on the limit”

Williams’s Felipe Massa believes that track conditions were already marginal in FP3, which did run as scheduled in the morning.

“I think it was very on the limit,” he said. “I am sure if it was in the race [it wouldn't run].

“They didn't put the red flag out at the end, and in the end it was impossible to drive so it was a little bit too much.

“I don't understand why they didn't do anything. I hope the situation in the race or qualifying will be completely different.”
