Shakedown for Jaguar R5

With the official launch of the Jaguar R5 now less than a week away, the new Jaguar R5 chassis is undertaking its initial shakedown at the team's Lommel testing facility in Belgium.

Although the new car's first public run will take place after the launch of the car on Sunday 18 January, the aim of running the car in Lommel is to complete a straightforward systems check, as test team manager Tony Burrows explains.

"We've just done our first couple of runs with the new car in Lommel in Belgium and it's looking okay," said Burrows. "We'll get through today (Monday) and make sure it changes gear and the drivers point out any abnormalities. If that's all okay we go on to Barcelona and launch the car next weekend and hopefully have a good three days of testing.

"At Lommel we're doing a lot of straight line stuff, mainly just checking all the systems through and getting an idea of what the aerodynamics are like. We've been here before so we've got direct measurements to work from. It's good to come here as it's private and you can run up and down and make sure everything's working."
