Giancarlo Fisichella took P12 in qualifying for DHL Jordan Honda, comfortably the top Honda driver on the grid. Team mate Takuma Sato, who worked with the T car engineer after his race engineer James Key flew home for the birth of his first child, struggled more with the balance of his car and qualified 19th.

GIANCARLO FISICHELLA

"I feel I got the best out of the car and although it's not that I am pleased with P12, under the circumstances it is not a bad result. We did a good job with the car as the balance was good. We need more downforce to help the grip levels tomorrow plus more power."

TAKUMA SATO

"All round a difficult session. Circumstances were difficult today and I found the car very nervous. My race engineer had to go home because his wife is about to have a baby so I worked with Dominic (Harlow) who is usually the T car engineer and it was a bit harder for us to find the best balance as we are not used to working together. I suffered from traffic on the second run in sector two which was frustrating as I was up on my previous lap time. I'll be working again with Dominic tomorrow and I am sure we will find a better balance in the morning session which will put us in better shape for the race."

GARY ANDERSON DIRECTOR OF RACE AND TEST TEAM ENGINEERING

"We'd have liked to have been in the top ten but basically I am not too disappointed with this result as we are only just outside that bracket. We've moved forward (from the last qualifying) which his the main thing, and our development programme is now under way so we are making progress. This circuit is very difficult but I think the car is ok and I believe in tomorrow's race we should be able to get past some of the drivers currently lying ahead of us. Takuma struggled more with the nervousness of the car and tyre combination than Giancarlo did - which explains the gap between them."

The T car is set up for Giancarlo Fisichella for tomorrow's race.
