Tough qualifying for Trulli

Jarno Trulli will start from eighth in his Renault tomorrow. He's disappointed, but nevertheless optimistic for the race.

Q: Jarno, how was today's session for you?

JT: It was very tough. We know it is harder to get the best from our car on a single lap rather than over a full race distance, and there was no other alternative than to push 100%. I was really trying very hard, but made some mistakes, because our objective was to get on the first or second row.It's fair to say I'm disappointed, but also true that it's better to lose a few tenths attacking than to be overly cautious.

Q: What are your hopes for the race?

JT: Anything can happen here in Malaysia, as past races have shown. Our car is reliable, and we saw in Melbourne that it can be very quick in race conditions. We also know our starts are very good. The ideal scenario would be to take three or four cars on the start, gain a few more during the stops... and hope for a couple of retirements!

Q: Fernando will have to start from the back. Is that bad news?

JT: I'm obviously sorry for him, he's my teammate. We had both half-expected to be near the front, we both pushed and both made mistakes. That's life. Having said that, even though Fernando will need to drive an aggressive race, I'm sure he can get a good result. He proved last season he is capable of that.

Q: Will it be hard physically?

JT: Yes, very. Having said that, the conditions will be the same for everybody. And I think our physical conditions could make a difference. I have tried to prepare as well as possible to give myself the best possible chance.
