AFTERNOON QUALIFYING REPORT

The afternoon qualifying session did not change the provisional starting grid. The tarmac high temperature did not allow the drivers to improve this morning times and everyone took to the track to find the best set-up for tomorrow race. Filippi will start from the pole position, with Vilander at his side, while, on the second row, Ricci and Ciompi close the Astromega- Fisichella duel.

Third row for Lloyd and for a continuously improving Cressoni. After them the Uruguayan Caceres and the Czech Janis, followed by Maldonado and Engel. Sixth row for the Light Trophy leader, Stefano Gattuso, noticeably fast this morning, and for Giacomo Piccini. After them Auinger and Charouz, Strano and Mari and finally the Algerian Sidi and Chiminelli. The only one to improve his time this afternoon was Riccardo Mari, but not enough to change his 16th place, and will therefore start from the 8th row on the grid. Maldonado and Auinger were the only drivers to use the second set of tyres, while the others preferred to keep it for the race.

Gattuso went off the track without harmful consequences. After trying a new brake system, he could not control his car and impacted the barriers on the corner before the finish line. He will only need to change his Lola Light's nose.
