The Mexican, who drove for the Aguri team in the majority of season one, has switched to Jarno Trulli's eponymous squad and is set to partner Vitantonio Liuzzi.
Both Duran and Liuzzi are set to drive the new powertrain on one of the season two Trulli cars at Donington Park over the next two days.
Motorsport.com has learned that the team is at present not planning to revert to the season one Spark-Renault package as had been widely presumed and that the Motomatica JT-01 will run this week ahead of being shipped to Beijing for the first round.
"I am happy to come here to Trulli and continue in Formula E," Duran told Motorsport.com this morning, at Donington.
"We started talking at the first test and they told me a lot of detail about the potential of the powertrain and their plans going forward.
"I have a nice feeling about it and I am looking forward to trying the car very soon. I love racing in Formula E and really believe in it as a concept, so I am delighted to be in the cockpit again."
Although not yet confirmed by the team, Motorsport.com can reveal that Duran's deal is completed and that Liuzzi is set to become his teammate via an official confirmation very shortly.
Liuzzi, who arrived at Donington Park this morning, is set to be the first driver to get experience of the Trulli.
