BMW too slick at Super Tourer opener
It hardly came as a surprise to find a BMW on provisional pole for the first round of The Power Tour's Super Touring series, nor that Alan Gurr was the steerer. Gurr starred in 2000 in a Peter Hills Mondeo while missing the rebirth of the category after being dumped by Toca Australian.
Gurr was the class of the field, netting the fastest time well ahead of his nearest rival Grant Johnson who is driving a Hills Ford Mondeo. Next best and a team mate of Johnson's was Sam Dale with Paul Leabeater alongside in a Toyota Camry.
Fifth fastest was the Peugeot 406 of multi-talented Ric Shaw who outpointed the Alfa of Andrew Morgan by four tenths of a second. The Toyota Carina of Claude Ellis was seventh with Michael Kerslake in a Hyundai Lantra and Malcolm Rea in a Toyota Carina ensuing.
Qualifying One (Top Five)
1-Alan Gurr (BMW 320i) 44.9314,

4-Paul Leabeater (Toyota Camry) 46.8981,
5-Ric Shaw (Peugeot 406) 47.0850.
