SETON KEEPS HOPES ALIVE. MALLALA, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, JULY 9,1995.
Falcon driver Glen Seton kept his slim championship hopes alive with a near perfect record at round 8 of the Shell Australian Touring Car Championships at South Australia's Mallala raceway. Starting from second on the grid, Seton won both heats of the round as well as the early morning made for television dash.
Second overall was bush bashing multi media mega star Peter Brock who thrilled the record crowd with a memorable driving display to take second. In heat one Brock spun the Mobil/Holden Racing Team Commodore at the first turn before carving his way back through the field with almost surgical precision to take a close second to Seton. It was even closer in heat two with Brocky just failing to get past "The Speed Hump" :-) (sorry Glen)
Third in both heats and overall was Championship leader and Pole sitter John "The Tasmanian Devil" Bowe in the Shell/FAI/Dick Johnson Racing Falcon from team leader Dick Johnson in fourth. Privateer honours were shared on the day with David Attard's Commodore taking the dash, young Queensland hotshot Paul Romano first privateer home in heat one and local Mark Poole leading them home in heat two. The circus now makes the long trek across the Nullabor for next weeks penultimate round at Western Australia's Barbagello Raceway.
