There were similarities between last years race in June on Jyllands-Ringen and this year: Sunshine and high temperatures. The weather has great influence on the formula that drivers and engineers are trying to solve in an attempt to find the perfect setup. And this track has a reputation for being a teaser.

After testing last Wednesday both drivers were confident which showed of in the free training. Taking up position three and four respectively separated by only 2/100 was rather promising for the qualifying later in the afternoon.

Both cars were early out and after a couple of warmup laps the first attempt was done. The times showed that the track had lost grip and adjustments to the setup were done.

- This track is always a nightmare. The grip may change quite a lot within an hour. In some cases dust has been blown in from the surrounding fields making the track slippery, Henrik Lundgaard explains.

Another attempt didn't result in a better time and the team was forced to wait until the second part of the qualifying, since Jens Møller after being off the track and ignoring the signs from the officials covered the entire track with sand and dust on his way back to the pit. Most teams decided to wait until the track had been cleaned during the break between the two sessions.

- I just couldn't get the grip but I did improve my time a bit taking seventh on the grid. Obviously Jan Magnussen and Thompson didn't have so must weight in their cars, so as a starting position I think it'd okay, tells Michael Outzen.

Looking at the times it once again shows the increased competiveness for the entire field as times has been cut by a second since last year.
