Andy PRIAULX -- BMW Team Great Britain, pole position
"Brilliant! After this morning's practice I thought that it would be
possible to be on pole; it was just a question of putting everything
together. I can't really explain why I've been so much faster than anyone
else in qualifying. The only thing I can say is that we experimented a lot
with the set-up. We knew the potential of the car, and we tried to take the
performance further. I didn't know what time I could do, but I knew I'd be
quick. I'm not worrying about the Championship, I'm just trying to win as
many races as I can. I'm just going to do the best I can now, like I've done
all year. I'll try to be clean and fast and then we'll see what happens in
the Championship. This year I've had a great year already, so whatever
happens tomorrow is a bonus."
Luca RANGONI -- Oregon Team, 2nd
"This was a totally unexpected result, because yesterday and this morning I
was struggling to learn the track. I couldn't find the limit and basically
didn't know where to put the wheels. Besides this, I am sick, with a cold
and fever; and this doesn't help in this terrible heat. We used three sets
of tyres, and with the third one I set an amazing lap time. I took a lot of
risks in the fast corners, and this made all the difference. This morning I
was already very fast in the second sector, but I had to improve in the
first one. I managed to do it, and it was a fantastic lap."
Gabriele TARQUINI -- AutoDelta Squadra Corse, 3rd
"Unfortunately, this will be my last race in the nr 1 car, and I'll miss
that! But I lost my chance to play for the Championship in Oschersleben.
It's a shame, but that's racing. Tomorrow I want to make a great race;
unfortunately I'm not starting from the pole position. This morning the car
was very good, but we didn't find a good set-up with new tyres, and that's
how I lost the chance of going for the pole. But the races are fifty
kilometers long, and since there's only one line you can use, it will be
very hard for anyone to make it through the whole distance without making
mistakes."
Rickard RYDELL -- SEAT Sport, 7th
"I have to say that I'm happier now than I was a little earlier. I've been
struggling with understeer in the slower corners all day, but we think we
know where the problem is and we should be able to fix it before the races.
I also came across traffic on one of my quick laps, so I'm actually quite
happy with seventh. Grip is going to be a big problem tomorrow -- one lap is
good and then the next one is not. My aim is to take points in both races,
which I know will be very exciting!"
Jorg MÜLLER -- BMW Team Deutschland, 9th
"The bad thing is that I don't know where to start solving our problems. My
car is not that bad, it's just that the grip level is very low. That's the
biggest problem. I don't know where we have to start working on at the
moment."
Dirk MÜLLER -- BMW Team Deutschland, 10th
"So far I had a really bad weekend. I'm struggling to get to know the track,
and this really disturbs me at the moment. In my first outing during the
qualifying session I don't know what the matter was, but I was driving very
slowly. On my second set of tyres I made a mistake, and I had another
problem at the last corner. But I'm sure that this did not cost me more than
one tenth. Obviously the tenth place on the grid is not where I wanted to
be."
Jordi GENE -- SEAT Sport, 11th
"I had a bad qualifying; it was really my mistake. The track is very
difficult and slippery. There is only one line, and when you push a little
bit and go out the line, you are also out of the track. I knew this, but it
didn't stop me from making the mistake!"
