Broad back in the thick of it at Brands Hatch finale
Bedford's Phil Broad was competing last weekend in the Ginetta G50 Cup at the final meeting of the season at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent. The championship is part of the support package for the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
The Saturday qualifying session took place in misty conditions and this led to an unbelievably close qualifying session, with Broad finishing up a creditable 7th place on the grid.
From his grid slot of 7th place Broad made a strong start in Race I on Saturday but was pushed off into a spin, however he was able to recover from last place to finish in 10th.
Broad had a few issues with the car over the weekend which returned for race 2 as it lacked pace and he was again punted off in race 2. He therefore started in 13th place in race 3 and he worked his way up to 7th for his best finish of the weekend.
As Broad commented at the end of the weekend "Although the weekend was enjoyable I was unable to better my podium place that I achieved at the Silverstone round. I was disappointed as all our sponsors were present for the last meeting of the season but that's racing as they say!"
"Again I would like to say a sincere thank you to all my sponsors, family and friends who have supported me this year".
