IPSC: Scotia Speedworld 2001 schedule

(Dec. 29) - In no uncertain terms Scotia Speedworld has made a committment to the stock car racing community for the 2001 season. A committment superior to anything ever offered in Eastern Canada. The facility will manage a total of 25 events between their own schedule and also that of the MASCAR Tour, for which they became the management of on December 5, 2000. The 3/10-mile asphalt oval, located across from the Halifax (Nova Scotia) International Airport, will see weekly racing begin on May 12 and run through September 8. Special events will feature visits from all of the major touring series in Eastern Canada and New England, including the International Pro Stock Challenge (IPSC) series, NEPSA, the Maritime Sportsman Series and the return of MASCAR and the Legends series. The Scotia Speedworld Weekly Racing Series will host three divisions: Thunder Cars, Hobby Stock and Sportsman. There will be 12 MASCAR events at six different tracks each featuring guaranteed purses of no less than $11,000.00 and also a guaranteed year-end point fund of $50,000 - with $10,000 to the champion. Fans can expect to see familiar faces return to MASCAR events, such as Mike MacKenzie, John Flemming, Dan Eddy, Dave Gorveatt, George Koszkulics, Leo Cochrane, Mike Riley, Scott Alexander and others.
