Ortelli was the one to beat

Obera, July 6th.- By being fastest all the weekned long with his Honda Civic, Guillermo Ortelli made everyone think that he was always going to be the man to beat in Obera for the sixth round of the TC 2000 championship. And so he was.

After the short races, he took the lead of the main event since the green lights turned on and was never challenged for the win int his place. In the first few metres of action, Lucas Armellini (Chevrolet Astra) and Norberto Fontana overtook the other car starting from row 1, the other Honda Racing Argentina Civic of Martin Basso.

Top contenders knew the pace could not be that hard because of tyre wasting, so they all kept quite close each other for at least half of the event. Rear brakes problems caused the retirement of Armellini when he was stretching the gap with Guillermo Ortelli. Some minutes later, Juan Manuel Silva left Esteban Tuero's Volkswagen Polo behind him and when Basso overtook Fontana, all HRA cars found in the first three positions. The champion Toyota fell down even some more places when he was slightly pushed in a corner by Gabriel Furlan (Mitsubishi Lancer).

Honda Racing Argentina team director Victor Rosso celebrated its first full podium with Ortelli, Basso and Silva heading a succesful trio ahead of Tuero, Furlan, Walter Hernandez (Ford Focus Zetec), Fontana, Fabian Yannantuoni (Honda Civic), Oscar Fineschi (Honda Civic) and Julio Infante (Honda Civic).

Rio Cuarto will be the town hosting the next round on 27 July. Norberto Fontana goes there with 66 points, followed by Walter Hernandez (57), Gabriel Ponce de Leon (55) and Juan Manuel Silva (38).
