Montreal, August 11, 2000 -- Berman Motorsport Group announced today that the eighth and final round of the 2000 Canadian Formula Ford Championship will be held September 8 and 9 at the newly renovated Autodrome St-Eustache.
The Autodrome St-Eustache is located only half an hour from downtown Montreal. The motorsport complex includes a 4/10th of a mile oval used by CASCAR, a drag strip as well as a 1.8-kilometre road circuit. The road course has been used extensively for years for Solo and road racing events of the Federation Auto-Quebec. Just last month, the track played host to members of Britain's Royal Family, as Prince Edward and his wife, Contessa Sophia, spent a day doing laps around the St-Eustache road course with Auto-Basi Racing school.
"Claude Aubin, the owner of Autodrome St-Eustache, has invested a lot of money on the road course recently, the renovations have been extensive," says Eric Berman of BMG, organizers of the Formula Ford series. "All dangerous obstructions have been removed, tire walls put up, portions of the track were repaved, and there are now concrete walls lined with tires down the backstretch. Roger Peart, the President of ASN Canada FIA, has recently inspected the new, revamped track and declared it was perfectly suitable for national pro Formula Ford race. Since the spectators can see the entire length of the track, it will be an exciting weekend of racing."
Practice and qualifying will be held on Friday, September 8 and the race will be staged Saturday afternoon.
The Canadian Formula Ford Championship enjoys the support of Ford of Canada, Sunoco, Castrol, Hankook, Cardinal and Player's.
