FORD driver Damien 'Ice' White scored his second RM Williams V8 Brute Muster win today at the end of one of the most thrilling races of the Bathurst weekend.
White, who won race one on Friday, and Holden's Michael 'The Don' Donaher diced side-by-side for much of the final three laps.
Donaher grabbed the lead on the final lap in a late-braking move from 240 kmh at the Chase corner, but then almost immediately threw victory away.
Arriving at the last corner and within sight of the chequered flag, Donaher was unable to slow sufficiently and nosed his Commodore into the safety fence.
By the time he regained the track White had taken his win - completing a hat-trick for Ford drivers - and four other cars had passed.
"MIchael made a big move on me at the Chase and I wasn't surprised when he couldn't stop for the last corner. We're in identical cars and I knew when he overtook me that the brakes wouldn't be up to another big stop," White said.
"The debut of the V8 Brute Muster was a great success and I want to say special thanks to the fans. They obviously liked the close racing, because I could hear them yelling up on top of the mountain as I went past."
Gary MacDonald, who had finished second to Donaher in race two, set the inaugural Bathurst V8 BRute lap record at 2 minutes 42.98 seconds.
