UTE: Team Brute Strength Surfers update

Lexmark Indy is just around the corner (23-26th October) and Gold Coast based V8BRute team 'Team Brute Strength' are working overtime preparing both cars for an assault on home turf. The V8Brutes will be a support category to the main race, along with other Procar categories and the V8 Supercars.

Many lessons were learned at Winton, thanks to the help of fellow competitors, notably Glenn 'Bad boy' Barnes which have been documented and will be put into place at Indy. Both cars (#18 and #25) will arrive at the circuit configured to race, taking a huge load off the engineering side of the team. A planned test day prior to the event will help hone the skills of not only the drivers, but also the support crew. " All systems will be go for Indy," reports Team Manager Warren O'Grady. " The preparation schedule is on time, so both cars will be ready well in advance for this round."

Team Brute Strength would also to welcome Benn 'Waterboy' Wilson to the BRute fraternity. Benn will be driving the #25 Holden ute for the remainder of the season. With a background in Karting (local and state champion) and Gemini racing (winner of 2002 Club Championship), Benn is poised to the next big thing in BRute racing. BRute racing is familiar to Wilson, having race in Adelaide in 2002 at the Clipsal 500. " Firstly, I would like to thank Team Brute Strength for the chance to drive the #25 ute for the remainder of the year. I'm very excited about the drive, and was in the right place at the right time," Wilson said. " I have been studying the past rounds including Indy last year, and ready for the challenge. Most of the damage happens from the back end of the field, so all I will need to do is keep away from those Ford competitors."

Racing in the #18 BRute for only the second time, Matt "Mongrel" O'Grady isn't intimidated about the job at hand at the street circuit. " The nature of the circuit will mean plenty of argy-bargy, which is common in BRute racing anyway, so keeping our nose clean and avoiding the carnage will be the formula for a successful weekend," O'Grady said. " Once I have dialled myself into the car and the track, I'll be up for a big weekend of racing."
