At home, finally!
It's the most important race of the year: the home race. This weekend, the International GT Open will be in Italy for the second time of the season, but this time on the closest track to home for Marco Frezza, the one which saw him growing up throughout his carreer: Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.
This weekend will be fundamental for the Italian driver on many aspects. First of all, the emotional one: "Because racing on the home track is always special," he confesses. Then, the pride, because he will be one of the Italian heroes on track on board of an Italian car, Ferrari 430 GT2 (even if run by a Swiss team, Kessel Racing), in Monza where red is always the most cheered colour.
"I will also have so many guests and friends who will come to follow me from the grandstands, pushing me to do well to thank them, too," he explains. Finally, but more important, the sporting aspect, because the Italian race will be the penultimate of the year and could be decisive for the GTS category championship battle.
"We had two unlucky races in Brands Hatch," Marco remembers, "but we want to recover as strongly as ever. And quickly. Our goal is still to catch Dayrault, who has a 12-points lead on us in the overall standings. To do it this weekend is in our possibilities." For this race, Marco will pair with a new team mate, another Italian driver: Niki Cadei.
