USRRC Names Chief Steward

MARTINSEN APPOINTED CHIEF STEWARD OF USRRC

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (March 2, 1998) John Martinsen has been appointed Chief Steward of the United States Road Racing Championship, replacing former USRRC Chief Steward and current SCCA Pro Racing/USRRC President and CEO K.C. Van Niman.

Martinsen has 16 years of professional racing chief stewardship, including the Can-Am Challenge from 1981 to 1986 and the Trans-Am from 1987 to 1996. Martinsen's racing experience outside of his Chief Steward duties includes a four-year stint as an SCCA Regional Executive and a three-year tenure on the SCCA, Inc. Board of Directors.

"John is one of the best in the business, and his resume backs that up. He was deeply involved with the original Can-Am Challenge, and it's appropriate he be a part of its resurgence," said Van Niman. "The USRRC will be well served by John's stewarding expertise."

Throughout his racing tenure, Martinsen has held a full-time position with the Aerospace Division of Boeing, serving as the Requirements Manager. He is in his 31st year with the Seattle-based company. Martinsen and his wife, Geri, live in nearby Bellevue, Wash.
