Joel Miller Shows Strength at Sebring

Joel Miller returned to the familiar seat of his Star Mazda car that took him to victory one year ago at Sebring, Florida. This past week the Star Mazda presented by Goodyear series conducted a winter test for teams to get acclimated with the new modifications for the car spec in 2009. JDC Motorsports asked Joel to come evaluate the car and give data regarding the performance. Miller did more than just supply the team with information, but topped the time charts in session 2 on Wednesday as well as the unofficial leader of the final session with a 2:01:27.

"I like the feeling that the new upgrades give the car in overall performance," Miller stated. "We never put on a set of new tires to really see what the car could do, but the goal for the test was to evaluate the new parts. However, we attempted a new tire run in the last ten minutes of the final session, but a red flag ended our chance to see what the car could have done with new tires."

Joel's plans for 2009 are still in question due to a lack of budget. He showed these past two days the pace needed to win races and the Star Mazda Championship.
