Nick Haye Finishes 6th in Star Mazda Race at Miller Motorsports Park

Salt Lake City, UT (May 19, 2007) Rookie Nick Haye, driving his JDC MotorSports Pro Star Mazda, set the fastest race lap in a very speedy field today in the 4th round of the Star Mazda Championship series. "We had a great car in the beginning of the race and were able to set the fast lap of the race," said Haye. "Overall it was a great weekend and I improved every session."

Two costly incidents on the opening laps set Haye off to a rough start - putting him back to 10th position from starting 4th. "In Turn 5 I made a dumb mistake -- then on the next lap after Baker spun, I had to go off track to avoid contact and lost more time," Haye said. "Working my way back up to 4th took a lot of focus and determination."

"My car started to fall off toward the end of the race," Haye said. "After Dane got by I tried to hold off Marco as long as I could because I wanted to be in the top 5 so badly, but he was just too quick on newer tires." Haye finished 6th and holds his position in the championship standings.
