MARCO ANDRETTI SCORES THIRD PRO SERIES WIN OF 2005 FROM POLE IN VONAGE CAR AT INFINEON
SONOMA, Calif. (Aug.28, 2005) Vonage driver Marco Andretti started from the pole and led all 30 laps on the way to his third Menards Infiniti Pro Series victory in the Sonoma 100 Sunday at Infineon Raceway.
Andretti, who has led every lap in the past two Pro Series road course events and all but 12 for the season in non-oval races, defeated Wade Cunningham by 1.0456 seconds for the win.
In five Pro Series starts this season, Andretti has posted three wins and four top-five finishes. He finished third earlier this month on the 1.5-mile oval at Kentucky Speedway.
Andretti's next scheduled Pro Series start in the #26 Vonage Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone is set for Sept.25 in the Corning 100 at Watkins Glen International.
Marco Andretti, #26 Vonage Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone:
"It was tough today. I was having trouble with my brakes, so I had to really take it easy on them and let my Firestone tires do a lot of the work. But, everything worked out great. The Vonage car was fast all weekend. It's special to win at a place where both my grandfather and father raced, and it was great to have them both here today."
