Long Beach: BHA/Vision Racing Friday notes

BRYAN HERTA AUTOSPORT & VISION RACING ARE TOP-TEN IN PRACTICE AT LONG BEACH

LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 17, 2009) - Both Vision Racing and Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) turned in top-ten times in practice for Sunday's Firestone Indy Lights Long Beach 100, held on the streets of Long Beach, Calif.

Driving the No. 21 Dallara/Firestone machine for Vision Racing, James Davison was sixth quickest, while Daniel Herrington was tenth in the King Taco / Le Bleu sponsored No. 28 machine for BHA.

It is both drivers' first attempt at Long Beach behind the wheel of a Firestone Indy Lights machine.

At the two events in the season-opening Indy Lights races on the streets of St. Petersburg Herrington got off to a great start. After earning a top-ten and a top-five finish, he is currently fourth in the championship point standings.

Davison debuted for Vision Racing on the streets of St. Petersburg by starting fourth in both races, Davison finished eighth and 17th respectively. He is currently 12th in the championship point standings.

Firestone Indy Lights action resumes Saturday for qualifying at 8:45 a.m. local time.

"We had a solid day. We were fourth in the first practice and sixth in the second so we're right up there. The second practice was challenging with crazy track conditions and with the tires wearing down. But, come qualifying tomorrow we're looking good to be at the very pointy end and we've made some adjustments to the car so I am definitely expecting to be starting in the first row or two."

Daniel Herrington - No. 28 Le Bleu/BHA Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"It went alright. This is my first time here, at Long Beach, for both myself and the team and it's a pretty neat track actually. I'm looking forward to racing here. We struggled a bit with the car early, but started figuring things out in the second session of practice. Hopefully we're going to get all of our ducks in a row for qualifying tomorrow and qualify a little better."

"We had an okay day. We made some gains, but I still feel like we need to make the cars a little better. It's a little nicer schedule this weekend with only having one race. We had two practice sessions today and that's given us a little more time to work on the cars and we'll obviously make some changes overnight. Daniel and James are both experiencing their first time here at Long Beach so this will give them a chance to sleep on what they learned about the track. And, we'll come back tomorrow and see what we can do in qualifying."
