Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels wrap up Senior Classes

Morad, Timmers, Bilotta and Di Leo take Senior class wins

GOODWOOD, ONTARIO The opening round of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels took place at Goodwood Kartways this past weekend. The Senior's put on an impressive show all weekend, and some new names showed up on the results sheets. The level of competition seems to have been raised another notch as all the classes saw multiple drivers battling for the lead and win.

Formula Senior

Formula Senior qualifying looked like a repeat of Formula Junior from a few years back. The Pfaff Fast Qualifier pole award went to First Kart's Daniel Morad, who took the pole ahead of Cameron Motorsports CRG driver Robert Wickens by 0.126 of a second. Returning 2003 Formula Senior Champion, 3-S Go Karts Birel driver Juliana Chiovitti was third on the grid. As a testimonial to the competition in the headline class, the top 19 drivers were all within a second of the pole time of Morad. Morad led the early going before being passed for the lead by Wickens. With six laps to go, Morad took the lead back and held on for the win ahead of Wickens, Juliana Chiovitti and Kart Depot's Tyler Givogue.

Canada Senior

In Canada Senior, the only Saturday senior class, Gold Kart's Pearce Herder took the Phaff Fast Qualifier pole award. Taking the win in the race that started out dry and went to wet was Gold Kart's Darryl Timmers. Goodwood Kartway's CRG driver Marco Di Leo was second and Ian MacCintyre, also on a Gold Kart was third.

World Formula Senior Burlington, Ontario's Matt Jackson took the Pfaff Fast Qualifier pole award ahead of CMP's Paul Carvalho by just .026 of a second. CMP's Adriano Bilotta, who came from sixth on the grid took the win ahead of Hurricane's Wilson Tessari Neto and Carvalho.

RotaxMax Senior

First Kart's Eric Gerrits took the Pfaff Fast Qualifier pole award. Gerrits went on to lead most of the race ahead of CRG's Marco Di Leo. In lapped traffic, Di Leo saw his chance and he took the lead and the win by .105 of a second. Third was SH Karting's Devin Cunningham.

The objective of the SRFKC is to help foster a professional environment for kart drivers; help create a positive attitude towards appearance, conduct and discipline; help foster the employment of the best practices for the safe and fair running of competitions; and help kart drivers to move up the racing ladder to automobile racing.
