Michigan karter wins at WKA Karting Nationals
SUMMIT POINT RACEWAY, WEST VIRGINIA - Michigan kart racer Patrick Lawrence was victorious in the 100cc Controlled class at Summit Point Raceway in the fifth of nine races in the Dunlop Tire Road Racing Series.
"My Elite/SpeedyQ kart was just great in practice," said Lawrence. "My tuner, Van Gilder, really had the set-up right." For the grueling 45 minute final heat Lawrence started 8th but lost several positions on the green flag. "The leaders got a hole shot on the me but I got back up to third place by the first corner." By the second lap Lawrence was in the lead and was never challenged. "I had one scare when I went to overtake the last place kart and he looked like he might come down on me."
"I'd like to thank my dad, Craig Lawrence and my tuner Van Gilder, Elite Karting and Speedy Q." Lawrence can be seen competing at the next event on August 20 - 22 at Putnam Park Road Course in Mt. Meridian, IN
