TRENT AND BULL CLAIM ARDC MIDGET VICTORIES ON SATURDAY
New Egypt, NJ - It's no wonder that Donnie Trent was smiling so broadly on Saturday night. He had quite a week, beginning with the birth of his second child on June 7. Trent's wife, Renee, presented Donnie and daughter Brook with a 9 lb., 3 oz. baby boy. The Honeybrook, PA resident then capped off his big week by winning the wingless feature for the ARDC Midgets at the New Egypt Speedway on Saturday evening.
The second of the night's Twin 20's, run with wings, belonged to five-time and defending ARDC Champion Ray Bull. The Bloomsburg, PA chauffeur charged from his 16th starting spot to the lead in just four laps, darting under Mike Miller to grab the lead just before they reached the flagstand.
NOTE: Eric Heydenreich, an ARDC rookie from Bloomsburg, PA, took a nasty flip on the opening lap of the first feature race. Heydenreich appeared to get into the wall on the backstretch, and his no. 84 launched high into the air, twisting and turning over several times in mid-air. The car landed on its tail, then somersaulted onto its nose before coming to rest on all four wheels. Heydenreich was knocked unconscious for a few minutes, but came to and climbed from the car under his own power. He was dazed, and the safety crew noticed that his helmet was split. Eric was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation, but he apparently suffered no serious injuries, although he did complain of some pain in his knee.
The full story will be written and emailed later in the day on Sunday, June 12.
